Reciever is French Gray with 100% coverage of well executed scroll engraving with a deep relief gun dog scene on the floorplate and Acanthus Vine in deep relief on the fences. Scroll engraving on breech end of barrels. Gold plated double triggers. Three piece forend with Deeley release.. European Walnut buttstock with straight grip. Deeply contrasting marblecake dark lines with great eye appeal. . 14 3/8" LOP to checkered wood buttplate. DAC-1 5/8" DAH-2 1/8" This gun is a sidelock work of art crafted by Austrian artisans shortly after the war in 1953. It is in nearly new condition showing no signs of ever having been hunted. Carrying weight of 6lb 14oz. Also included is a third set of 1952 Marholdt barrels not original to the gun but they appear to have been fitted to it. The forend wood is not matching nor is the scroll engraving on the breech end of the barrels. The back end of the barrels does not exactly match the contour of the reciever. These should have competent gunsmith inspection before being used. All cased in a leather three barrel case. Richard Marholdt was born in 1878 and died in 1949. He was the head of Tiroler Waffenfabrik Peterlongo [founded by Johann Peterlongo in Innsbruck,Austria in 1854] from 1898 until 1918. In 1919 he founded Richard Marholdt & Sohn which took over Tiroler Waffenfabrik Peterlongo in 1939. His son, Herbert, became the head of the company after his death.
