Parker-Whelen Catalog & .22 Ammo Box $100 In 1923 Colonel Townsend Whelen was instrumental in bringing together Seymour R. Griffin and James V. Howe and the gunmaking firm of Griffin&Howe was born. Four months later Howe left G&H to join Hoffman Arms Co. in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1938 Howe joined Col. Townsend Whelen at the National Target & Supply Co. in Washington D.C. In 1940 this became the Parker-Whelen Company . This full size 37 page catalog from 1951 includes articles by Colonol Whelen. The wooden .22LR ammo box was reported to be old when the previous owner acquired it fifty years ago. Outstanding Americana.

During his artistic career he did 106 Field&Stream covers, the 1939 Migratory Waterfowl Stamp, and 10 National Wildlife Federation stamps. He was a close friend of Earnest Hemmingway.
